Whatever the reason, you may need to modify a subtitle file so it syncs up with your movie. You can paste your subtitle in the text area or you can use the browse button to open your file.

    1. Use the Browse button to open your subtitle file.

Just click on Browse button, search for subtitle file on your hard drive and open it. Or you can paste it into the text area if you previously opened with a text editor.

    1. The Difference (Offset)

Here you can set delay positive or negative, time in seconds or by number of frames within your tool. In both cases must be enter the amount of seconds or the number of frames.

Increasing delay (+ sign) it will cause the subtitles to display later.

Decreasing delay (- sign) it will make the subtitles display sooner.

Example: If you want to increase subtitle time by 5 seconds. Browse our subtitle file. Choose the + sign from the dropdown list, enter 5 to the textbox. Select as seconds from the dropdown list.

    1. The FPS

FPS stands for frames per second in which the measurement of a video clip contains number of image frames within one second. Each frame is a picture. The frames per second indicate how many times the picture will be changed per second.

With this tool you can convert between different subtitle frame rates. This feature is very useful, in case your subtitle file has a different fps from the video file.

    1. The Output Options

The Output Options will allow saving your modified subtitle file to your hard disc. You can choose the Subtitle format and the Output format for your file.

Subtitle Format: This will be your generated subtitle file extension .sub or .srt. You can leave these settings on default value (Same as input).

Output Format: If you choose Save as a file your subtitle will be saved to your hard disk or you can preview it choosing Show in browser.

    1. Finally:

Click the Process button to generate your file.

Syncronizing does not work at Syn-Page!
    Why?
I’ve tried with “*.srt” file bit nothing happend.

  • admin Says:

@Sergio, Adam: please provide more details about your issues so I can replicate them.

I’ve just tested the synchronize subtitles page and works fine.

  • vanina Says:

    Hello,

I have tried to synchronize subtitles but I cannot get it right.
1st the sub where 10 sec too late so I changed it by taking off 10 and selecting sec.
the beginning of the film is ok but after about 20 sec, the sub are displayed more & more in advance.
It might have something to do with FPS (which I haven’t touched) but I don’t understand the explanation on the FPS section.
    Thank you

  • admin Says:

Vanina, movies have FPS, that is, Frames per Second.
The subtitles are generally sync for a certain FPS, 23.97 or 25 usually.
If you have a subtitle for 23.97 but your movie is 25PFS it will slowly go out of sync. So the idea would be to try not only to sync the start but also the frame rate.

  • TuL Says:

    Really a nice tool! :)
But sync with different FPS seems not working. It works well only with the offeset. Anything wrong?
    Thanx for your effort.

I have tried to sync sus. but it don’t work. At the beginning it’s ok but then my sub. is more and more slowly. The film fps is 25 and the translation’s fps is 23.97. What can I do ?

  • mark Says:

i cant find out how to download the sub`s please help me a littel here.

  • eli Says:

just can’t seem to get this to work on Micmacs. titles are still19secs behind everytime i try. thanks

  • Andrew Says:

I am having trouble processing the subtitle track to synchronise with the film. FYI….

    1. I downloaded the .sub track to my hard drive.
    2. Using Synch tool site, I selected “Browse” to choose the .sub file on my hard drive
    3. Adjusted the delay I wanted in the file (+16.5 secs)
    4. Selected “Process” (after choosing a variety of ways for input/output and save/open in browser – none worked)

The output file comes out as a .txt file – it doesn’t register with VLC. If I try and rename or otherwise adjust it still doesn’t register when I play the film. I can synchronise the original file using the VLC tools but I don’t want to have to keep doing that.

What am I doing wrong? I was looking forward to using this tool on a dozen other files!!

    Thanks,
    Andrew

because it did not work, before was running ……

    someone help??

  • admin Says:

Thank you all for your messages.
I’ve just tested the sync tool and apparently it works for me so I would kindly ask you to tell me:
    1) what subs file you’ve tried with
    2) if you’re running windows or another OS
    3) what browser and what version of the browser you use
    4) also if you could try with another browser and check whether it works or not.

Thank you for your supporting me in figuring out the exact circumstances when the sync tool appears not to be working properly.

dear “admin”, ive tried the dutch srt subtitle of edge of darkness. i’ve tried to paste it in the text box and i’v tried it with the browse option, but it didn’t work :(
i used Iexporer on win xp SP3.
i’ve tried with all the FPS settings but that doesnt matter, the subs are stil 25sec to early.

I hope you can work something out with my input because i love the tool (well if it works offcourse ;) )

    regards
    JF

  • admin Says:

    Tiggy,
thank you for your detailed feedback.

    Here’s what I’ve tried:
    - I used different computers
    - I used different OSes
    - I used different browsers (FF, Opera, IE)
    - I used different sub files
    - I shifted the timing +/- a different number of seconds
    - I saved the restul in a file or displayed it on site.

It always worked fine for me so this is why I’m still wondering what could be wrong and in what particular version of browser since this works for me but also it doesn’t for apparently a large number of visitors.

If you could tell me the exact version of your browser it could help. Also if you could use the contact form on site to contact me to discuss about making some in detail tests I would very much thank you.

    Now it worked for me,
the problem was my browser Internet Explorer 8,
    worked in Firefox 3.6 …….

    thanks….

  • Larmen Says:

Didn’t work for me either: I couldn’t paste the srt file and even though I found the file in browse and clicked open, nothing happened.
I think you need to walk people through it a bit more, make it simpler Mike.
Most people just want to watch the movie they’ve DL with a minimum of fuss and trying to match fps etc is in the too hard basket for many.

How do you find the fps rate for instance?
Do you drag your torrent file into the thing with the srt ?
It’s these kinda basic questions that need answering.

    Cheers

everything works, but the file is the same as imput, same times of talks from the movie i’ve uploaded, it is not working anymore

    True….

  • John Says:

Is the output file supposed to show the times adjusted individually or is there a single advance/delay built into the start?

Anyway, “le corniaud” on Win7 Home Premium with IE8. Tried English and Romanian subtitles, browsed and pasted (one at a time, not both togetehr), set the fps at 25 and left the input/output the same; result – no change. A new file saved, vlc offered it as an option but all the timings remained the same. Inspection of the file showed all the times unchanged (hence the first question).

  • Isi Says:

    Dear admin

I inserted subtitle file .srt and selected -5 sec.
After that i saved the new file and used it but nothing happened. The delay remains.

It is necessary to select fps? Because I do not know what to select.

    Thank you

  • ara Says:

I am having problems too, how do I know the FPS of the srt?

  • admin Says:

Unless is written somewhere in the name or at the top of the file you cannot tell the FPS. So my suggestion is to guess it is 23.97 and if this fails to try then with 25FPS.

  • admin Says:

It isn’t necessary to select FPS unless you want to change it.
Do you use a download manager, maybe Free Download Manager? It looks like this causes problems when syncing the file sometimes.

  • admin Says:

John, do you use maybe a download manager like Free Download Manager (FDM)? After many discussions with visitors like you and testing it looks like the sync tool won’t work for those using download managers like FDM.

  • Vlad Says:

Same problem for me: offset works but not FPS. I’m on Mac OS 10.4.11, tried with both Safari 4.1 and Firefox 3.6.8. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Fontana Says:

    Hi everyone,

I have a much more simple question. As I have never used allsubs before I am a little confused about how to get the subs that I downloaded into my movie?

Thank you for your help (links to websites with explanation are also very welcome).

    Fontana

  • Tom Says:

That’s exactly my position, Fontana: How to get the downloaded subtitles into my movie. If anyone can give a simple answer I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

    Tom

  • jim Says:

    Dear Tom and Fontana-

For most media players, the .srt file must be located in the same folder and have the identical name as the video file you want to attach the .srt subtitle file to. If your video is named “running_from_danger.avi”,
then in order for most media players to automatically load the subtitle file the name of the .srt file must be “running_from_danger.srt” If the name of the .srt file is “subtitle_for_running_from_danger_1982.srt”, it will not open in the media player. If you are using VLC, then you can import a differently named .srt file by selecting from menu bar, “VIDEO”, “SUBTITLES TRACK”, “OPEN FILE”, and import a .srt file from anywhere on your computer. Hope that this works for you!

no subtitle is matched with the movie dialogues… its something different than the cinema dialogues

  • Russi Says:

    Hi!
I faced same problem as many other user: The offset works fine, however the ratio current to target FFP didn’t change anything in the output file. Evan extremely diferent FPS valued (25, 20) made any change.
    Have you any help?
